It takes exactly three seconds to be hooked on this song.
Bass and clapping – who would have thought!? But honestly – we all knew that’s all it takes, didn’t we?
Congratulations to The Bird and the Bee’s “Merry Merry” – grooving its way to top spot and clinching the title of 2020’s Christmas Carol of the Year! It starts so well, you think it’s going to let you down – but never! Start to finish – what a corker!
Coming up in close second place was “Joy to the World 2 (He is Come)” by Tommee Profitt and Clark Beckham. It’s ‘Joy to the World’ like you’ve never heard it – cool arrangement with a voice as powerful as it is smooth!
And for our sub-category, COVID Christmas Songs – Congratulations to Notetaletonix and ’12 Days of Lockdown’!
We just can’t go past ‘… five packs of toilet paperrrrr …!!’
In a year where the earth has been smote with a once-in-a-century Global Pandemic causing unimaginable economic and social impacts – it became all too apparent that it wasn’t just lives and stock-markets being ‘wiped’. Toilet paper has never been more front and centre than it has been in 2020 and will be the butt of many-a-COVID Joke as time rolls on.
We at CCOTY are glad to mark the occasion with the terrible sound of the aptly named, Notalentonix, with their Lockdown song coming in at Number One (not number two – Mike Barnett & Robbie Williams did that in a dead heat).
Thank you to all who surveyed, sought and searched! The CCOTY Submissions playlists are absolute crackers!
Merry Christmas to all!

Woohoo! Definitely the most catchy (& my favourite) of the nominees.
As disappointed as I was that Tori Kelly’s Joy To The World didn’t make the final cut, this is definitely a solid consolation prize!
Agree. Yes – Tori’s was sooooo close! It’s still in my heavy Christmas rotation!
